Sequim Arts September 26th Members Meeting
The Meeting will feature a presentation by Terry Grastiet, a local artist who does some interesting things with paint. Terry explains: “I have been involved and intrigued by art and painting since the 50′s. Being a perpetual student, my studies have included art, psychology and lots of science, all of which contribute to my sustained interest in abstraction and creativity. I have participated in galleries and art competitions extensively over the years. I consider myself to be an experimental abstract artist and liken my painting process to a journey of discovering of what can be created. Paintings start with color selection and some vague idea, then paint is applied in layers of marks applied using brushes and various tools which would appear to be random. This evolutionary process leads to many changes over a sustained period of time. Working sessions tend to be several hours or less. The whole process is much like Alice following the White Rabbit. New ideas are always occurring during this dynamic process leading to new works. Abstraction for me is endless journey of creative discovery.” The meeting is at St Luke’s Episcopal Hall, 525 N 5th Av. on June 27th starting with refreshments at 9:30 am, business meeting at 10:00 am with Renee’s presentation following at about 10:45 am. Everyone, including non-artists, are welcome to attend these free meetings.
